How Brooks sizes its shoes
Brooks's centimetre lengths are its inch scale written in centimetres (25.4 cm is exactly 10 inches), which is why they come to two decimal places. Unisex Brooks shoes use men's sizing, and Brooks says a women's size minus 1.5 is the men's size, so a women's 8.5 is a men's 7. Men's sizes above 13 come in whole sizes only, and the women's chart ends at 13.
Brooks recommends ordering half a size to a full size larger than your dress shoe size and leaving about a thumb's width of room in front of your longest toe. Its widths are Narrow (men's B, women's 2A), Medium (men's D, women's B), Wide (men's 2E, women's D) and Extra Wide (men's 4E, women's 2E), depending on the model.
